Good Evening! We will be hosting KTS Boys Basketball team tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. Due to the travel, we will have to have both games on Friday. Game times are at 6 PM & 9 PM. Community Market will be Saturday, Feb. 10 from 2-4 PM.

Good Morning! A couple of updates: 1. We will be hosting KTS Boys & having Senior night this weekend. Games & times TBA when we receive official travel. **We are in need of volunteers to be able to host. We also need at least 1 more referee. If you're willing to ref, please call Maggie at the school. 2. Community Market will be this Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 from 2-4PM. Please call the school & let us know if you'd like a table. See y'all there! 3. Our SMK girls team is scheduled to travel to GLV this weekend.

Good Evening SMK! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy to report that our girls team made it home from Teller and our boys made it home from Noatak! Also happy to report that after speaking to Devon, the Tapraq guys and checking the building, we will resume a normal school day tomorrow, Monday, February 5, 2024. The school is still only down to one pump, however, they are hopeful the Tapraq guys are able to get back over tomorrow to continue to work on the 2nd pump. We will continue to share out information as we work diligently with the District maintenance team who is working hard to resolve these issues that are out of our control. We would also like to send a huge shout out to Devon & Jay-Ar who have worked very hard this weekend with the Tapraq crew and boiler techs. They have done an amazing job and the District is pleased with their work. Thank you guys! We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Good Evening! I hope everyone is doing well. Happy to be home! Here's a couple updates: 1. Tapraq Rock came over to assess the school building and found the issues with the system. The zone valves are manually open and will let it heat up overnight. They will be working under the school all day tomorrow to fix the sewer line. We can use absolutely no water in the school right now. 2. School will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 so that they can fix the system. 3. Both Thursday & Friday of this week will have to be made up for sure. We will announce those dates as soon as we are able. Thank you to everyone for being flexible and patient while we work these things out.

Good Morning, I hope everyone is doing well. Happy to report that the heat is working well in the school building, however, we are now having sewer fumes throughout the building. We will dismiss school at 10:30. It is possible the day will have to be made up. We will keep everyone updated as we get that information. The Tapraq Rock guys will be coming over today to assess the system. Thank you for understanding and I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good Evening SMK! I hope everyone is doing well. Tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 will be a normal start time for school with an early release time at 1:30 for staff training. The building will be checked early just to make sure it is good to go for the day. Also, the boiler tech guy did not make it out to site today due to being stuck in ANC.

Good Morning SMK!! I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. I am happy to report that I have heard from the kitchen staff, maintenance staff, and acting admin that the school is warm! Yay! Thank you to those who made that possible! School will resume today, Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 at the 10AM delayed start time. **Delayed start time is 10AM. Doors open at 9AM. Breakfast at 9:15. Happy Wednesday!

Good Afternoon, I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. Just wanted to share the most recent school update 1. Dale Tom came over & reset the boiler settings and some other things to get the boilers and air handlers circulating heat into the building. 2. The District Maintenance has the contracted boiler tech coming out tomorrow. Thankful they were able to make this happen quickly! 3. The school plan: We will go into the building early to determine the school status for tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024. We will let everyone know by 8:30 at the latest if we have building issues or need to cancel. **Delayed start time is 10AM. Doors open at 9AM. Breakfast at 9:15. Thank you for being understanding and supporting the school.

Good Morning. We hope everyone is doing well. At the start of the morning, the boilers were on and working. In the meantime, they have now maxed out and need time to turn back on. Under the recommendation and direction of the District Office: 1. We will cancel school for today, Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024. 2. Teachers will create packets of work to send home with students. 3. Until further notice, we will have a delayed start each day, starting Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 to give time to access the building and decide on school for the day. We are diligently working with the District Maintenance staff to get our school back in working order. Thank you for your understanding and working with us for our students.

Good Morning, We hope everyone is doing okay and staying warm. Due to some unforeseen building issues and for the health & wellness of students & staff, we will have an early out at 1:30 today, Monday, Jan. 29, 2024. The pipes are freezing, the air handler is broken & not able to circulate heat throughout the building (the part has been ordered). Our maintenance staff is working hard on these issues. Thank you for your understanding.

Happy Friday SMK!! Great news! Gambell Girls Basketball team is in fact coming! We will have 2 games tonight since they leave early tomorrow morning. Game times: 5:30 & 7:30 Come on out and support our SMK Storm Girls team!

Good Morning SMK! I hope everyone is doing okay. Out of respect for the Chiskok Family, we will dismiss school officially at 1:30. The family has spoken with the admin and is okay with this arrangement. If there are any students that would like to attend at 1, they are more than welcome to be signed or checked out. There will be a potluck and dancing here at the school after the funeral. Our condolences to the family.
