📣 ABC Countdown to Summer Begins Tomorrow! ☀️ We’re excited to kick off our ABC Countdown at Brevig Mission School—starting Thursday, April 11 with: 🔤 A = Alaska Day Students and staff are encouraged to wear or share something related to Alaska—local clothing, regional pride, Inupiaq words, or simply something they love about our home state. 🐾❄️ This is the first of 26 themed days—one for each letter of the alphabet—as we count down to the last day of school. It’s a fun and simple way to bring our school community together each day. Ask your child what letter we’re on and what the theme is! 🚨 GYM NOTICE 🚨 For public safety due to current health concerns (Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease in the village), the gym will be CLOSED today from 7:00–8:00 PM. This affects the ECE, Kindergarten, and 1st–4th grade groups scheduled during that time. We canceled this gym session yesterday and are canceling it again today out of an abundance of caution due to confirmed cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease in the village. 🛑 Why this decision was made: After learning of positive cases in the community, we decided it was safest to pause gym for this age group. Younger children are more at risk of spreading and catching this illness through close contact and shared surfaces. We understand many students had attended school and were excited for gym. The decision to cancel was not taken lightly—it was made for public safety, especially to protect our youngest students. ⚠️ All other gym times remain as scheduled: ✅ 8:00–9:00 PM – 5th–8th Grade ✅ 9:00–10:00 PM – 9th–12th Grade ✅ 10:00–11:00 PM – Adults ➡️ (Women – if Monday/Wednesday, Men – if Tuesday/Thursday) Thank you for your understanding and support in protecting our youngest community members.
